Cartagena was selected among 481 cities on the continent as the city with the Best Strategy for Attracting Investments in America in the American Cities of the Future 2017-2018 ranking, published by the Financial Times' FDi Magazine.
The city participated in this version of the measurement, classifying itself as a “Large City” and surpassing North American cities such as Ottawa, Orlando, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Nashville and the South American city of La Paz, and is currently positioned as a city with high investment attractiveness in the country.
The natural, cultural and historical conditions of the city, as well as the hotel capacity, the offer of services and the international image, have made it one of the main tourist cities in the country, where the congress and convention market appears as a line of importance in the local and national context.
The industrial growth of the city has allowed new tourist markets to welcome Cartagena de Indias as the preferred destination for meetings, training and congresses. The city's infrastructure includes a Convention Center located in the heart of the historic city and also has with modern facilities in several of the city's leading hotels.
